Forensics Team Earns Awards at National Championships
The forensics team earned top honors at the National Catholic Forensics League National Championship Tournament in Albany, New York and at the National Forensics League National Tournament in Birmingham, Alabama.
Outstanding performances at the NFL National Tournament include:
- Alphonce Mshomba (3rd in Oratory)
- Mike Dahlgren (4th in Dramatic Interpretation)
- Joe Geoghan & Dan Marcel (9th in Duo Interpretation)

Forensics Team Wins State Championship
The HGP Speech and Debate team won the 2009 Pennsylvania State Championship held at Susquehanna University on March 27th and 28th. The tournament features 80 different high school forensics teams from across the entire state. Individual winners from this year's tournament:
Conor Wigginton - First Place in Prose Interpretation
Alphonce Mshomba - First Place in Persuasive Speaking
Joseph Geoghan - First Place in Poetry
Thomas Bryson - Second Place in Persuasive Speaking
Dan Marcel - Second Place in Humorous Acting
Mike Dahlgren - Second Place in Dramatic Acting
Eric Wiegand - Third Place in Prose Interpretation
Anthony Hopkins & Joe Gallagher - Third Place in Duo Acting
Jon LaPlante & Ted Bordelon - Fifth Place in Public Forum Debate
Dan Glenn - Fifth Place in Humorous Acting
Will Begley - Fifth Place in Informative Speaking
Holy Ghost also had semi finalists: Ben Rogers (Extemp Commentary), Kyle Mulholland (Extemp Speaking), Joey Szal and Christian Bernlohr (Duo Acting), Andrew Bryk (Radio Announcing).
A Tribute to Yuriy Tutko
Yuriy Tutko, a member of the Class of 2010, passed away suddenly while attending a forensics tournament at Harvard University on Saturday, February 16, 2008.
Yuriy Tutko is the son of Igor and Hallie Tutko and was born on September 15, 1992. A member of the Swimming and Forensics team, Yuriy was an active member of the Holy Ghost community.
In lieu of flowers, the Tutko family requests that donations be made in Yuriy's name to Holy Ghost Prep.
